Motor shows might be on hiatus in most countries but in China, they are back. Below is a list of world premieres for this year’s event in Chengdu.

Aiways U6ion concept: originally due to debut at the Geneva show, this prototype will be called U6 in production form

Buick Velite 6 PHEV: no facelift but the claimed range rises to 780 km of which 60 is when the car is in EV mode

Buick Velite 7: based on the Chevy Bolt, this 4,264 mm long crossover was a 130 kW motor and an NEDC rated maximum range of 500 km (310 miles)

BYD Song Plus: new SUV has a large grille and is powered by the company’s BYD476ZQB 1.5-litre petrol turbo engine

BYD Song Plus EV: reportedly has an NEDC range of up to 505 km and has a 120 kW motor, is 4,705 mm long with a 2,765 mm wheelbase

Changan X5: a few weeks on from a prototype having been revealed at last month’s Chongqing show, this is reportedly the production version

Haval Dagou ‘Big Dog’: B06 project is GWM’s 4,620 mm long replacement for the sixteen year old Hover/H5 SUV

Haval H6 facelift: not only a mid-life update but the second generation model will soon be joined by a third generation H6

Maxus pick-up concept: no name for this vehicle but it likely previews a dramatic facelift for the T60/T70

Nio EC6: an NEDC range of 615 km is claimed for this 4,850 mm long crossover which debuted in pre-production form at last month’s Shenzhen motor show

Ora ES11 Good Cat: Great Wall continues to expand its EV brand (and the number of unusually named models) with this 4,235 mm five-door hatchback

Ora R2 White Cat: a 3,625 mm long EV offered with choice of 34 kWh and 38 kWh battery packs and NEDC ranges of 360 or 401 km

Roewe ER6: 4,724 mm long and effectively an electric version of the Roewe i6, has a 181 hp single motor and a 70 kWh battery pack

Roewe RX3 facelift: this SUV premiered at the 2017 Chengdu show and should now remain…
