Colorado State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving a car, a dump truck and a house west of Longmont.

The dump truck first crashed into the car at 5:21 p.m. Friday in the 9800 block of North 51st Street, according to Colorado State Patrol Master Trooper Gary Butler. The dump truck then crashed into a house near the intersection of North 51st Street and Nelson Road.

One person died in the crash, but Butler could not confirm whether it was the driver of the car or the dump truck or a passenger in either vehicle.

The dump truck driver and passenger were taken to an area hospital with serious bodily injuries. The passenger of the vehicle was also taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.

Butler said the investigation is ongoing, but confirmed the dump truck caused the crash.

Nelson Road is closed between 55th and 39th streets as of 9:30 p.m.

Crews from Longmont Fire Department, Hygiene Fire Protection District and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office also responded.
