Good morning/afternoon/is time real, and should we just give up on “good [time of day]” greetings during coronatide? Sorry, got a little too existential; I have yet to have my coffee.
How are you? I love you? I hope you’re great, however, if you’re feeling like “eh, could be better,” I’ve got so much good news gathered that I hope will change your “meh” to “nice!”
+ Queen Latifah. You’re welcome. Yes, we deserve it.

+ Yes, the Matrix trilogy is trans. Lilly Wachowski confirmed it, it is now law.
+ Grace Lynne Haynes painted Sojourner Truth for the cover of The New Yorker (which you can get from your local library online, in a lot of cases! Who needs a tote bag you’ll never use?!).
+ The Cabrillo Festival was virtual this year, and featured a virtual orchestra premiering Stacy Garrop’s “The Battle for the Ballot,” a contemporary piece about suffrage.

+ Did you hear that the new Amazon reboot of A League of Their Own is canonically gay??? What a good time to revisit Netflix’s documentary from the spring that celebrated lesbian baseball players. Yes, you read correctly: lesbian. baseball. players.
+ Ah yes, August, Pride season in the south because June is too danged hot. Even with coronavirus running around mucking up our lives, Out! Raleigh Pride moved online, just for you!
Picture it: Me, sitting on a bed in a fully unpacked house. A sixteen pound purr machine on my lap, a twelve pound sass machine sleeping on her own bed, facing away from us. We are weary, worn, and a little weepy, but we are happy. We know that we are loved. We ask for what we need (me with words, the cats by biting my ankles). We say thank you, often. We make art, we watch sunsets and sunrises, we share what we have with our loved ones, and we are grateful. I’m grateful for y’all. Keep on keeping on, and for the love of glob, take a nap this week, we all deserve at least one nap a week. Because as I began today’s post: Time is fake as fuck. Sleep when you want to. Love you, mean it, bye!!!
